Why does one piece of criticism take apart my whole day?
If worth is a rank, a correction is not information about the work, it is a position update about you. That is why volume does not help and accuracy makes it worse. The disproportion is the tell: the reaction is sized to the ranking, not to the note.

Why do I feel so unappreciated at work?
Recognition is being used as a scoreboard read-out. A rank cannot be seen from inside, so it has to be reported by someone else, and the offense is what a missing read-out feels like. The test: was anybody with the power to give credit ever plainly told?
